DESCRIPTION:Da anni l’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità e le Società Scientifiche Nazionali ed Internazionali hanno proposto standard di riferimento e predisposto un protocollo condiviso di standardizzazione delle procedure dell’esame del liquido seminale. Il primo manuale “WHO Laboratory Manual for the Examination and Processing of Human Semen” è stato pubblicato nel 1980 e negli anni è stato aggiornato cinque volte (1987\, 1992\, 1999\, 2010\, 2021). L’ultima edizione\, la sesta\, è stata recentemente pubblicata con l’implementazione di nuovi argomenti e descrizioni metodologiche aggiornate. Le principali novità introdotte coinvolgono la valutazione della motilità nemaspermica\, l’introduzione della valutazione della integrità cromatinica tra le analisi di II livello e l’eliminazione di un cut-off di normalità.
